Update: 2/1/17

What's happening!

We have been doing a tremendous amount of waiting, and that waiting is (thankfully!) nearly over.

We are so excited that we may need to acquire a fainting couch.

We have ordered a "short run" from the "Hopeful Factory" --- and it is on its way. So, hooray!  There is some delay because of the Chinese New Year. (Since the materials are all being sourced from Asia, this impacts us.) So, boo.

We found out for sure just a few minutes ago that it would not be here this week, so we decided to go ahead and send the update now.

The contract negotiations continue at the breakneck pace of the Flash... from Zootopia. Yeah, we really feel the main character's pain. The bright side is, our lawyers assure us that the contract we have drafted is indeed quite rigorous.

Lastly, we have definitely secured (in a precautionary measure, should both of these other options somehow fail) multiple raw material suppliers. (Of course, if we come across better deals than the ones we have secured, we are open to discussion! So don't be shy if you happen to be such a supplier.)

We are looking forward to our next update having significantly more pictures and videos and a possible use of a fainting couch.

We are extremely thankful for your patience.  We had no idea that this would take even half as long as it has when we started.  But our collective patience is about to pay off, and we can hardly express how thankful we are.  But we'll try anyway!

Thanks for reading, and thanks for backing us!

  1. I missed your kickstarter, but have followed your production struggles with sympathy and interest. Sounds like you are reasonably close to actual production. Yea! Is there any hope of getting a discount on an order for an order of 40 or 50? I'd really like to support your determination to get this product out, but my gaming budget is tight. In any case, keep on plugging away.

  4. So, I guess you can't be bothered to update here and the Kickstarter page? Too busy waiting?

  6. It's always been "one link away". So why have this page at all, if you aren't going to update it? Copy/paste is pretty damn simple too.

  8. Seriously some of the WORST communications I've ever seen. Literally years of "We've got a problem, factories screwingup blah blah blah." then finally "Oh everything is great! Finally!" and then a month and.... nothing. I've been predicting no delivery on this for a long time but was hoping to be wrong. A fundamental lack of understanding about how customer service works.

  11. "We don't even reply or post on this blog. That way we only have to make up a story once a month."

    ReplyDelete
  12. "Oh hey look, another 'Quality Control' issues post. We are now up to two years after promised delivery and yet mysteriously they just can't seem to find anyone in the industry who can produce these mats. The company has time and time and time again been told by many people (Look at their Kickstarter comments) that they should update more than once a month. Those pleas are ignored. It boggles the mind that anyone who was telling the truth could act like this.

      You were right Fred. Sorry.

  13. I think people are beginning to realize, that this product will never be delivered. I purchased mats after the Kickstarter from the website and have asked for a refund, it's always been denied. I assume, because the money is gone. I hope I'm wrong, only time will tell. At some point, even they must grow tired of the charade.

    1. No I really don't think you are wrong. They took the money and left with it and now they simply keep lying about it so they don't get sued or something.

  14. I can't read the Kickstarter update as I wasn't a backer, but I assume from the tone of the comments it wasn't good. I wonder what they did with the money.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Asked again for a refund. Was told I could cancel my order any time. I can't. Was told I wasn't charged, and would only be charged when the product shipped. I was charged the full amount.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Allegedly, the mats were "scheduled to arrive on the docks" on September 30th. Now October 19th and no update. Prepare for a Nov 1 update where they say something about a delayed shipment or a printing problem.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I have not heard anything about them shipping, no email, no nothing, so if anyone has any information on it, please share.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Nobody has gotten anything. I still remain dubious that this is happening at all. No pictures. No real updates... nothing. If I am wrong, awesome. I get mats. But if they really had mats, why wouldn't they post a TON of stuff about that huge accomplishment? No reason, right? This is what they wrote in November:

"This should be the last update before the first shipment of tiles goes out! (If not, it’ll be the start of December that they go out from us to you.)"

Start of December, huh? Well it is now mid-December and still no progress. At this point, I am fascinated to see how long this can go.

    1. So annoyed this is looking like a scam. What a great product this would have made.

  19. For what it is worth, I got an email today saying "I should have mine soon, as long as I ordered 8 inch tiles". Most of my order was 8 inch tiles, but unlike the Kickstarter folks, I couldn't change my order and reminded him of that. We shall see. I live only a couple states from TN (assuming they are mailed from there) so even with Holiday shipping, they shouldn't take long to reach me. I'll post here if I do.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Correction, my order has NOT shipped according to latest email.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I placed my order in 2015. I have still never had any actual communication from these people about anything. $123.00. The minute I started requesting a refund, I never heard that from them ever again.

    ReplyDelete
  22. They have responded to me when I asked for refunds..to refuse them. Argued that I had not actually payed for the items. I had. My order was not as large as yours, I thank my lucky stars for that.

In my recent communication with them, they first claimed I'd have the mats soon as they had been shipped, then they did an about-face, and admitted they had not.

Pitchforks and torches are out on the Kickstarter page. Many of the people there had a lot of trust in that these would be delivered and now are realizing they likely won't.

  23. I hope people aren't still pre-ordering these from this websites store. there should be some way to report it.

  24. Kickstarter update today. No shipping until after Christmas. Jerry was sick.

    ReplyDelete
  25. So, Christmas will drag on into New Year's Day. So another 3 weeks before shipping starts. Let's see if there are more excuses. I guess Jerry is doing all this by himself.

    ReplyDelete
  26. To be technical he didn't actually say christmas, he used the term holiday would is probably christmas/New year.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Was told shipping would start right after Christmas. Assuming the larger definition of "Holidays", and that I was told ALL would be shipped at the same time, my order should arrive no later than the middle of next week. I'll keep you posted.

    ReplyDelete
  28. To date, I have not received my mats. I would have expected, that if mailed on January 2, that they would be delivered today. At the latest, on Wednesday..most likely delivery on Monday. I am not far from TN and things normally take 4-5 days.

Looking at the Kickstarter comments, the only persons to have received mats are those that picked them up locally. I think two customers.

I am wondering if, GNL is playing some kind of Game Mat, Ponzi trying to hold off due to cash shortage. God only knows.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm not sure why you think you've been sent anything.

  33. I am in australia and have to move interstate in late February. Would I still have time to do this?

    ReplyDelete
  34. No tiles. When are you shipping for those of us who payed through this site?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I did not receive the tiles I ordered through the website. Only my kickstarter.

    1. My quality is mixed. I have 2 different tone tiles the corner of one tile chipped, but it wasn't cut correctly and I think I can fix most of it by cutting it myself.
Some of my tiles have an overhang from the top tile and foam bottom.

I have recieved both my kickstarter and website order. 2 different shipments.

If Jerry ever figures his stuff out. I would order other colors at a later date.

  37. Email sent to Jerry. He has responded in the past, mostly to put me off or argue with me about charges etc. So far silence. In my last communication, he claimed ALL the packages would be mailed on the same date, after Christmas. Perhaps, those few people who did get a shipment, were all that would be mailed.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Unknown #1, did you send an email to Jerry's personal or somewhere else? I hate to believe that they would lie about how many arrived and get everyone's hopes up. I'm just hoping it's moving at a very, very slow pace and not everyone getting them is checking in online.

    ReplyDelete
  39. No, I sent emails to the GNL account listed here. I would think, that someone like Steven Waters above, would have received ALL his mats in one shipment if GNL had the means to do so. It would have saved GNL money to have done it that way. I think Jerry/GNL don't have the cash to make this happen, or they would have given me a refund long, long ago. I've been asking for one for a year and a half.

  40. I have registered a complaint with the Knoxville BBB.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I recieved my website order yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  42. To my surprise and Jerry's credit, the tiles arrived today. I live in the UK. Here's a rough photo I snapped on my phone: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5u3jht5jc996vsh/2018-02-14%20-%20GNL%20magnetic%20tiles.jpg. That's nine tiles in 3x3 array. They're looking pretty good and tabletop ready.

Take heart folks, GNL could have played a tighter game overall but it looks like they're on the case, even for international buyers.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm happy and a bit more hopeful that they will still arrive. I have a small order and live close to Tennessee. Nothing so far.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I live in Oregon, my tiles arrived on V-day, and I gotta say..

I'm disappointed.. Every tile I recieved had scuff marks, or damage underneath the protective plastic peal away cover.. The magnets are a little weak, but I got a free bag, stencil, and stickers.

But the tiles were scuffed and marked... Very disappointed.

It took almost 3 years, and I gotta say... It's fine if you're playing in a small space and need the modular, but it's not as nice as an actual mat.. :(

  45. According to the update on the Kickstarter, I should already have mine. I don't.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Unknown, were you a backer, or a post-KS order on the website?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I was a post KS order on the website. I originally ordered a few 8 inch and a few 4 inch. After a discussion with Jerry, I changed to all 8 inch.

    ReplyDelete
  48. oh I got mine last night, not time to look them over other that a cursory look. but I got em

    ReplyDelete
  49. still nothing. reading the Kickstarter pages, it seems these "reorders" are going out at a later date. Perhaps, mine will be in that shipment batch.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Kickstarter update says they can edit orders, but I don't seem to be able to. Some help around here would be appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ok, I'll try it this way. I am order 1936. I ordered 6 8 inch square parchment tiles, and 2 four inch square parchment tiles. I'd like to change all to 8 inch square parchment tiles. I'm not in the Kickstarter. I have been charged for the items. You can contact me at goblu79@yahoo.com. I will also email you.

  55. PM
I've been one of the KS backers patiently waiting for my order. Jerry, et al, indicated the only orders that would be shipped out would be the ones that had the parchment colored square pattern. No hexes and no other colors. My order was mixed, so I assumed that's why I haven't gotten mine yet. But now, with he complete and total lack of communication from GNL - including the person they supposedly hired specifically to keep us all updated - I've lost heart and pretty much figure I've kissed that money good-bye.

  56. I am a Kickstarter backer, and I have never received any tiles. I paid a little over $100 for 25 x 7 1/2" parchment tiles (1 1/4" squares), and either 9 or 16 x 8" parchment tiles (1" squares). I am extremely disappointed that you guys apparently were not able to make this idea work, yet very confused to see some posts here claiming that they actually have received tiles. What is the story? Am I ever going to get any of the tiles I paid for three years ago?

  62. I backed this Kickstarter in a big way. I am in Knoxville with these guys and am very disappointed that these cowards couldn't come clean and admit they were walking away with our money. I get that they failed and never made a product that was up to scratch, but to not be men about it is incredible. I assume they don't look at themselves in the mirror very often.
